Hi, I’m Marjie.

Originally hailing from a small town in northern Minnesota (yes, with the long ‘o’), I’m a Brooklyn-based actor, dancer, and singer with a love for period pieces, dark comedies, and good political dramas.

I keep my training alive and well with Scott Freeman in weekly scene study, Vance Barber and Jess Cummings of The Bob Krakower Gang for on-camera work, and Katy Pfaffl for voice.

Prior to the pandemic, most of my theatrical pursuits involved music and dance, including my self-produced solo cabaret honoring Judy Garland, What Would Judy Do?, which played to sold-out houses in New York City and Minnesota—in Judy’s and my hometown!

These days I’m excited to be focusing more of my energy on straight theatre and film and TV.

Some favorite past performances include playing Judy Haynes in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (I can recite the movie nearly by rote), Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol, and the Berkshire Theatre Group production of The Skin of Our Teeth, directed by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize–winner David Auburn and starring Tony-winner Harriet Harris.

I have a B.A. in Dance and Human Rights from Barnard College of Columbia University, where I worked with celebrated modern choreographers Twyla Tharp, Larry Keigwin, and Sidra Bell, and spent time gallivanting—ahem, studying—across Senegal, New Zealand, and Paris.

Outside of performing…

I am a freelance ghostwriter and editor.

During the pandemic I was the VP of Content & Editorial at Arcbound, managing a writing team that helped industry experts share their expertise and thought leadership with the world. I now work on a freelance basis with clients in a range of industries and focuses—from social psychology to executive coaching to product management—writing and editing their articles, newsletters, long-form social content, and (newly!) books.

If you’re looking for Marjie the writer/editor and interested in working with me or learning about my rates, I’d love to hear from you.
